Acting as the drummer for bands such as Hurtmold, Instituto and São Paulo Underground (with the trumpetist from Chicago Underground, Rob Mazurek), Mauricio Takara has been on the international contemporary music scene for years,  touring in countries such as the United States, England, Canada, Poland, Czhech Republic, Germany, France, Portugal, India and Brazil.   
 
In addition to touring, Mauricio has worked with a variety artists, including Otto, Nação Zumbi, Nana Vasconcelos, Damo Suzuki, Scotty Hard, Vanessa da Mata, Joe Lally, Josh Abrams, Rob Mazurek, and many others.  He has also done work on soundtracks for short and full length films. 
  
Mauricio’s live performances vary from an all electronics duo live PA with visuals to a trio or quartet with drums and percussion.  His sound ranges from more abstract sound collages to a more up beat hiphop/eletronica with strong beats and melodies. 
  
Over the past couple of years, Mauricio has had his work reviewed on most of the main Brazilian magazines and many others around the world, including The Wire (UK), CODA (Canada), Gonzo Circus (Netherlands), and more.  
 
Mauricio has taken control of the samplers, synthesizers, effects and computer work on his new solo project called “M.Takara”.
